Hello! My name is Joyce Sly. I am the founder and designer behind Sly J. Studios. I am an artist, illustrator, and surface pattern designer based in Altanta Georgia.

I am very passionate about design and I enjoy creating beautiful and unique patterns for a wide range of products. From textiles to home decor, my designs are created with care and attention to detail. I attribute my love of bright colors and bold patterns to my strong background in children’s wear and I have a fondness for midcentury design that reflects in my work. I strive for quality in everything I do, and I am committed to bringing a fresh perspective to the world of surface pattern design. I take great pride in my work and aim to create designs that inspire and delight.

My career as a designer began shortly after I graduated from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science with a Bachelor of Science degree in Fashion Design. I began work as a technical illustrator, hand drawing sewing pattern instruction illustrations for Simplicity Pattern Company. I enjoyed the precision of technical drawing but I really wanted to design. I landed my first job as an Assistant Designer for a small children’s wear company called Mayfair. That was the started of my long, successful career as a children’s wear designer and CAD designer. I have worked as both an in-house and freelance designer, designing prints and apparel for many leading children’s wear and baby gear companies such as The Children’s Place, Carters, and Graco.

I welcome the opportunity to work on commission projects and my designs are available for licensing. Take a look at my Portfolio to view new illustration & surface pattern design work.
